The Story Behind
Habit Leadership
Kara Stafford, M.Ed., CPTD® is the Founder and President of Habit Leadership. With over 30 years of experience in people development across healthcare, finance, insurance, and the nonprofit world, she brings both depth and heart to every training, coaching, and consultation engagement.
Kara is known for her thoughtful, inviting approach, blending practical tools with meaningful connection. As a certified Jon Gordon Trainer, she empowers individuals and teams to lead with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Her credentials include DEI in Talent Development, MBTI®, Human Performance Improvement, and Virtual Facilitation, among others.
Kara obtained a certificate from Cornell University in the Psychology of Leadership and she holds a Master’s in Adult Learning and Development and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. Based on Florida’s west coast, Kara’s passions extend beyond work, she’s an advocate for causes supporting children, animals, heart health, and Alzheimer’s.

Career coaching supports individuals at key points in their career journey—whether they’re exploring what’s next, pursuing a promotion, navigating a career change, or re-entering the workforce. Career coaching involves clarifying goals, identifying strengths, refining your personal brand, and developing practical strategies like resume building, interview prep, or networking plans.
Both coaching engagements are highly personalized and rooted in trust, accountability, and forward momentum. Sessions are typically 30-60 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs, goals, and timeline. The duration of professional or career coaching engagements can vary depending on individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Common coaching timelines are three - nine months.

I partner with clients to define what success looks like from the start—whether it's individual growth like increased self-awareness, confidence, or a stronger sense of purpose, or broader outcomes such as improved relationships, higher engagement, and a more positive team or workplace culture.
Depending on the engagement, impact may be assessed through feedback surveys, assessments, participation data, coaching reflections, or progress toward individual or organizational goals. For longer-term engagements, I also recommend follow-up check-ins to sustain momentum and reinforce key learnings. Growth isn’t always a straight line, but it’s real - and with the right focus and support, its impact can be lasting and meaningful.
